Overwater Hotel Winner of Best Small Hotel in Cumbria 2010. They have a very traditional dining room offering a four course Table d'Hote menu for £40pp.

Armathwaite Hall Winner of Best Large Hotel in Cumbria 2010. They have a formal dining room overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake (no jeans or trainers) with a six course menu at £44.95  They also have a relatively new Courtyard Bar & Brasserie with food available from 10am - 9.30pm with main courses from £13.95 (6.6 miles)

An old coaching house offering bar meals in the lounge at lunch time and more formal meals in the restaurant in the evening. Three courses £35.
New Bistro opening soon for those who don't necessarily want three courses. Open 12-2.30pm & 5.30-9.30pm

A cooperatively owned pub, with a range of local beers made in the cooperatively owned brewery which is next door. Frequented by Chris Bonnington & Prince Charles. Good for real ale lovers with typical pub food. Bar open 5.30-11pm (8.3 miles)
