** WINNER OF CUMBRIA TOURISM AND NORTH WEST TOURISM AWARDS B&B OF THE YEAR 2007 **

The setting of the Old Rectory at Boltongate, amid peaceful countryside with the fells and mountains beyond, could hardly be more beautiful. The house is set in three and a half acres of mature grounds with ample car parking, a duck pond and a lily pond.

The house dates from around 1360 with later additions in the seventeenth century and Victorian times. In summer the sun streams through the large windows and guests can enjoy birdsong and beautiful views over Skiddaw; during the cooler months, log fires burn in the study where guests can play board games or read some of the many books available.

This is the home of Gill and David Taylor who have created a calm and uncluttered but warm and welcoming atmosphere and they have recently been awarded a Gold Award by Enjoy England. They are delightful, friendly and knowledgeable hosts with a real eye for detail and have furnished the house with an eclectic mix of old and new.

Situated in the quieter Northern Lakes this is the perfect centre from which to explore Buttermere and Derwentwater, and the majestic peaks of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Northern Fells of the Lake District .

Recommended by "Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay" and also a member of Wolsey Lodges.

Many guests return with friends or family and take over the house for birthdays, special occasions or just to catch up.

Please note that Boltongate Old Rectory is entirely NO SMOKING and we cannot accommodate children under 14 years of age unless part of a whole house booking.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Old Rectory.
