Boltongate Old Rectory
Guest Living Room
Entrance Hall

The location of Boltongate Old Rectory, amid peaceful countryside with the fells and mountains beyond, could hardly be more beautiful. The house is set in three and a half acres of mature grounds with ample car parking, a duck pond and a lily pond.

This is the home of Gill & David Taylor who have created a calm and uncluttered but warm and welcoming atmosphere which has been awarded a Five Star Gold Award by Visit Britain, the highest accolade that can be achieved. They are delightful, friendly and knowledgeable hosts with a real eye for detail and have furnished the house with an eclectic mix of old and new.

The house dates from around 1360 with later additions in the seventeenth century and Victorian times. There are two lounges for guests to enjoy: in summer the sun streams through the large drawing room windows and guests can listen to birdsong whilst admiring beautiful views over Skiddaw; during the cooler months, log fires burn in the study where there is a selection of board games to play or take time to curl up in front of the fire and read some of the many books available.

Situated in the quieter Northern Lakes this is the perfect centre from which to explore Buttermere and Derwentwater, and the majestic peaks of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Northern Fells of the Lake District.

As the house has only three guest bedrooms, many couples return with friends or family and book the whole house for birthdays, special occasions or just to catch up.

Recommended by "Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay", Cool Places, a member of Wolsey Lodges and also Silver Winner of Best B&B in England 2008/9.

Boltongate Old Rectory is entirely no smoking. Children over the age of 14 are welcome at anytime, younger children only as part of a full house booking. Pets are not permitted in the house. In an attempt to be 'green', local produce is used as much as possible and all toiletries and cleaning products are eco friendly.
